Who runs the program?

Dr. Karel Winner, DNP, PMHNP-BC, CAMS-II, is the clinical director. He is a doctorally prepared Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and certified in anger management through the National Anger Management Association at its clinical tier. He completes your assessment, supervises the program, completes your closing review, and signs your certificate. Weekly group sessions are led by an educator under his supervision. His full credentials are on the Clinical Director page.

What is a CAMS-II?

CAMS-II is the Certified Anger Management Specialist II credential issued by the National Anger Management Association. It is the clinical tier of NAMA certification and is held by licensed mental health professionals. In this program, only the CAMS-II director performs assessments and provides clinical services. The credential is the director personal certification; it is not an approval or endorsement of this program by NAMA.

Will my court accept this program?

That cannot be guaranteed. Acceptance is decided by each court and each officer, case by case. Confirm with your court or probation officer before you enroll. You receive a one page acceptance sheet you can hand to your officer, and the $50 seat hold is refundable until your court confirms acceptance.

Is this program court approved?

No program can honestly promise acceptance by all courts. This program is directed by a CAMS-II, sessions are live, attendance is verified at roll call, and certificates state hours actually completed. Whether that meets your specific requirement is your court decision. Confirm first.

How can my court or employer verify my certificate?

Your court, probation officer, or employer can contact the program office at (800) 303-3221 or info@angermanaged.com to verify a certificate or to confirm your enrollment or completion status. Verification confirms the facts on the document: your name, the program, the hours attended and completed, and the completion date.

What if my court does not accept it?

Your seat hold is refunded if the program is not accepted. If you have already started, talk to us before you continue, because hours in a program your court will not accept do not help you.

What does the assessment involve?

A structured intake packet and an anger pretest, completed online before your session, then a 45 minute individual assessment with the director covering your biopsychosocial history. Your track and program length are assigned in writing, and your enrollment letter follows within one business day.

Is this a batterer intervention program?

No. Batterer intervention and domestic violence specific orders are not served by this program. If that is what you were ordered to complete, you will be referred out at assessment.

Is this therapy?

The group and private education tracks are anger management education, not psychotherapy, and they do not replace therapy or medication care you already have. Clinical anger management services are provided only in the private clinical track, by the director.

Are sessions recorded or self paced?

No. Every session is live on Zoom with the instructor present, camera on, and attendance verified at roll call. There is no recorded course to complete alone.

How many people are in a group?

The next cohort is capped at 8 participants. Groups after that are capped at 10, so every participant is known by name.

What documentation do I get?

An enrollment letter within one business day of your assessment, monthly progress reports with your signed consent, and a completion certificate signed by the CAMS-II director stating the hours you actually attended and completed.

Do you bill insurance?

No. The program is self pay only. A card is kept on file for payment plan payments. No certificate is issued until the balance is paid in full.

What ages do you serve?

Adults 18 and older in group programs. Participants age 17 are served in the private clinical track only.

What if I miss a session?

A missed session does not count toward your hours. A live individual makeup session is available for $75. Your certificate states hours actually completed, so missed and unmade hours are not included.

How long is the program?

The standard program is the 12 hour core: an individual assessment, twelve weekly 60 minute sessions, and an individual closing review. Shorter and longer requirements are served by the 8, 26, and 52 hour programs, assigned at assessment.
